This hardy perennial seed has been harvested from a very comprehensive collection of Angels' Fishing Rods which includes not only an impressive number of individual species but also some hybrids, many as yet un-named. A packet full of both beauty and surprises.
This is a group of exquisitely beautiful plants with gracefully arching, long, fine, hair-like stems. These bear on stalks, so slender that, even on a calm day they seem to be, like mobiles, in continual movement, drooping panicles of numerous, delightful, bell-like flowers. They are hardy but prefer a rich, well-drained position and shelter from cold winds. Particularly effective on the margin of ponds.
Pretty Wild Seeds are registered with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) under number 7529, so you can have confidence in both our products and advice. Although our products are listed in weights and acres, we can supply in additional quantities upon enquiry so if you need a larger supply, please don't hesitate to give us a call.

Germination; Sow indoors at any time. Sow 5mm deep into moist well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 18°C. If germination has not taken place in 4-6 weeks cold stratify. Move to 4-5°C for 4-6 weeks then move to 12°C for germination. Germination can be erratic taking 1-3 months. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle and grow on individually in a frost-free place, greenhouse or directly outside. The seedlings prefer being planted out rather than pot grown.
Growing; Prefers a humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun. Prefers a sheltered spot. Ideal for the border or a gravel garden. Do not allow the soil to dry out in summer or to become waterlogged in winter. Will appreciate a general feed in spring if desired.
Cultivation; Tidy any winter damaged foliage by cutting back to the base in spring. Propagate by seed. Do not divide unless very congested as the plant resents root disturbance.
