They are widely grown as conservatory plants, but also flower well outside in warm sheltered situations protected from frost. Grow the plants in full sun to part shade and rich well drained soil. Plants grow well in larger pots, which can be brought in for the winter, or in warmer UK gardens, plants can be left outside in the ground in a sheltered and well drained position - covered in a thick layer of mulch once the leaves and shoots have died down in the autumn.
Sow in early spring to summer in a tray of compost, keep at 20-22 degrees Celsius and germination takes 4-6 weeks, sometimes up to 4 months.
All parts of the plant are considered toxic.
