Very highly scented violet-blue flowers in spring. Pale green foliage carpets the ground. Perfect shade loving ground cover. A lovely and refreshingly sweet cut flower. Hardy, perennial. Flowers late February - May. Grow to approximately 8" (20 cm) high. Thrives in shade but will tolerate a full sun position. Likes a rich soil. Plant 10" (25 cm) apart. This plant will spread up to 24" (61 cm). Lovely and highly scented cut flower. Culinary Uses Wonderful for crystalling and using for cake decorations.  Edible flowers. Used to make violet syrup. Used to make violet marshmallows and scones!

Used in India to treat sore throats and tonsilitis. Other Uses Used in perfumes. Seed is best sown in the autumn in a cold frame.

    We happily accept returns within 14 days from date of delivery. All returns must be received in the same condition and packaging we sent them. Postage charges will not be refunded on unwanted products.

    You are solely responsible for ensuring the goods are returned to us. We will not be liable for returns that are lost in the post or lost for any other reason. If a product arrives damaged we will advise the customer how to return the item with all return costs covered by us.  Replacements & refunds will be dispatched / issued on receipt of the returned items only.

    The seed requires a period of cold stratification and the germination of stored seed can be erratic.  Prick out the seedlings into individual pots when they are large enough to handle and plant them out in the summer.

    Spring sow for flowers the same year. Autumn sow for flowers the following year. Autumn sow under glass. Fill a pot with 90% compost 10% sand. Sow 2mm deep and cover lightly with soil. Ideal temp. 22°C. If seed germinates straight away transplant otherwise seed will be dormant but ready to germinate the following spring. Spring sowing as above, if seeds have not germinated in 2-4 weeks cold stratify. Move to 4°C. for 6-8 weeks then return to warmth at 10°C. When seedlings have 2 true leavestransplant to 8cm pots. Grow on for a year before finally planting out with 50cm spacing.

    Growing; Water well until established. Mulch annually to prevent the tubers from drying out. Requires little attention.

    Cultivation; Remove spent flowers to encourage further blooms. Will self-seed.
