Showy, easy to grow, incredibly fast growing ornamental grass, which is classified as a hardy perennial; there’s not many reason s you wouldn’t want to grow this to add a whole new dimension to your green space. Produces loads of 2-3’ long white plumes by the third year, which makes excellent cut flowers, fresh or dried.
Given the right conditions and the best treatment, it’s even possible to grow up to 12ft tall!

Sow the pampas grass seeds February/April inside or in a heated greenhouse, on a surface of a good seed compost. Use a tray and fine seed compost, put the tray in a polyethylene bag and try to keep at a temperature around 15-18 Celsius; germination takes 2-3 weeks. Keep the soil moist.
When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse.
Plant them out into their permanent positions in the summer, when large and strong enough to handle the wind.
